The survey noted that price of one-kilogram big white Channa has remained stable and available at Rs 190 per kg, while small white Channa being sold at Rs 170 per kg in retail market, while Dal Mash is being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 160 per kg during previous week, the survey recorded, while Dal Channa priced at Rs 120 per kg in retail market. Likewise, the survey witnessed hike in the price of a good quality Sela rice which is sold at Rs 155 per kg against Rs 130 per kg in local market, while Tota rice priced at Rs 70 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 80 per kg during the preceding week.
Price of gram flour (Baisen) has increased in retail market as being sold at Rs 130 per kg, which was selling at Rs 120 per kg during the previous week. Red bean is available in retail market at different rates ranging from Rs 170, Rs 140 and Rs 120 per kg. White Lobiya priced at Rs 120 per kilogram in retail market. Dal green is available at Rs 120 per kilogram, Moonge at Rs 120 per kg, Dal masoor at Rs 100 per kg. Prices of all brand and quality cooking oil/ghee remained unchanged, the survey noticed.
According to survey, price of ginger has slightly decreased and selling at Rs 180 per kilogram, which was Rs 200 per kilogram during the previous week. While, one-kilogram garlic has come down to Rs 120 per kilogram, against the price of Rs 140 per kg a few days back, the survey noticed. Tomato is another most important kitchen item of everyday use which is being sold at Rs 40 per kilogram against Rs 60 per kg in local market, while onion is priced at Rs 60 and Rs 70 per kg in retail market.
Green chili is being sold at Rs 100 per kg, while lemon at Rs 50 per kg. Ladyfinger at Rs 70 per kilogram, calabash at Rs 50 per kilogram, Arvi at Rs 60 per kg, cabbage at Rs 50 per kg, cauliflower at Rs 40 per kg, red potato at Rs 40 per kg, and white potato at Rs 30 per kg in retail market, the survey noticed. Chicken meat is available at Rs 190 per kilogram in retail market, which was selling at Rs 185 per kilogram during the previous week, the survey noticed. It further said that since the increasing cold weather, the demand of eggs has gone up which ultimately pushed up their price in retail market, as a dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 140-130, which was selling at Rs 120 per dozen during the last week.
One-kilogram sugar is being sold at Rs 55 in retail market, showing an increase of Rs 2 per kg in retail market, the survey noticed. Butchers are defying the official rates and selling cow meat at exorbitant rates in retail market, according to which cow beef is being sold at Rs 300, Rs 320 and Rs 340 per kilogram. Mutton is being sold at Rs 700 and Rs 750 per kilogram in retail market.
Fruits are staple food, which is also beyond the power of purchase of the common man, as prices have surged up in retail market. According to survey, apple is being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kg, pomegranate at Rs 150 per kg, grapes at Rs 100 per kg, guava at Rs 80 per kg, banana at Rs 50 and Rs 80 a dozen. The survey noticed that a litre of fresh milk is being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 against the official fixed rate of Rs 80 per litre. Yogurt is being sold for Rs 100 and Rs 110 per kg. Good quality black tea is being sold at Rs 350 per kg and Rs 400 per kg, green tea at Rs 250 per kg, a one kilogram pack of milk powder at Rs 700 in retail market.
